The K&N Typhoon air intake system is engineered to optimize airflow for specific BMW 335i and 335i Coupe models. This system replaces the factory air filter and intake housing with a mandrel-bent aluminum tube that significantly reduces airflow restriction. By smoothing and straightening the airflow, the Typhoon intake allows the engine to draw in a larger volume of air, resulting in increased power and acceleration across the RPM range.
In addition to performance gains, the K&N Typhoon system enhances engine acoustics, providing a more aggressive sound during acceleration. The kit includes a chrome-topped high-flow air filter and a heat shield that fits into the original air box space, ensuring that air is efficiently directed into the engine's throttle body. The durable silver powder-coated finish of the intake tube is designed to withstand the rigors of engine operation while accommodating the factory mass air sensor and crank case vent hose.
The oversized cone-shaped air filter is washable and reusable, with a service interval of up to 100,000 miles depending on driving conditions. Installation is straightforward, typically completed in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points, making it a practical choice for performance enthusiasts.
