This unit allows for the charging of the coach battery from the engine alternator while also enabling the chassis battery to be charged from the converter when connected to shore power. By isolating the batteries when not in use, it prevents the discharge of one battery affecting the other, ensuring reliable performance during operation.

The BIRD operates in conjunction with a continuous duty solenoid, effectively managing the connection between the two batteries based on their voltage levels. It automatically closes the isolator relay when either battery exceeds 13.3 volts, allowing for simultaneous charging.
