The chain provides the necessary weight to maintain the proper approach angle for setting the anchor effectively. A scope of 5:1 to 7:1 rope length to water depth is recommended for proper anchoring. The anchor is retrieved by maneuvering the boat directly over it, allowing the ring to slide to the crown and release the anchor.
