The ARB Emu Dakar Leaf Spring is designed to enhance the ride quality of vehicles by ensuring that the load is distributed over a larger surface area. This design minimizes high stresses that typically develop at the leaf ends, thereby reducing the risk of leaf breakage and extending the lifespan of the spring. Each spring undergoes a scragging process, which allows it to take a permanent set, significantly reducing the chances of sagging over time.
In addition to its robust construction, the Emu Dakar Leaf Spring features military wrap for added safety and anti-friction pads made from regreasable nylon interleaf liners. These pads effectively reduce friction at the leaf tips, where the load is most concentrated. The flat axle seat area is engineered to provide a secure axle mount, further reducing spring stress and enhancing longevity.
The shot peening process applied to the tension side of all leaves is a critical feature that helps to alleviate spring stress, potentially doubling the life of the spring. With a two-stage leaf pack design, this spring is optimized for comfort, making it suitable for various driving conditions.
