The ARB Emu Dakar leaf spring is a critical component of ARB's integrated 4x4 suspension systems, designed to enhance ride performance across various operating conditions. This single leaf spring features draw tapered and diamond cut leaves, which ensure that the load is distributed over a larger surface area, effectively reducing high stresses at the leaf ends. Fully scragged and load tested, these springs take a permanent set to minimize the risk of sagging over time.
Incorporating advanced features such as a graphite coating, the Emu Dakar leaf spring reduces friction between the spring leaves and friction pads, contributing to improved longevity and performance. The military wrap design enhances safety, while anti-friction pads made from regreasable nylon liners further decrease friction at the leaf tips, where the load is most significant. The flat axle seat area allows for a secure axle mount, reducing spring stress and extending the life of the spring.
Additionally, the shot peening process applied to the tension side of all leaves significantly reduces spring stress, potentially doubling the lifespan of the spring.
