The ARB Emu Dakar leaf spring is a critical component of ARB's integrated 4x4 suspension systems, designed to enhance ride performance across various operating conditions. This leaf spring features a draw tapered and diamond cut design, which ensures that the load is distributed over a larger surface area, effectively reducing high stress at the leaf ends. With a fully scragged and load tested construction, these springs take a permanent set that minimizes the risk of sagging over time.
Incorporating advanced features such as a graphite coating, the Emu Dakar leaf springs reduce friction between the spring leaves and friction pads, promoting smoother operation. The military wrap design adds an extra layer of safety, while anti-friction pads made from regreasable nylon liners help to further decrease friction at the leaf tips where the load is most significant. The flat axle seat area is engineered to provide a secure axle mount, reducing spring stress and extending the lifespan of the spring.
Additionally, the shot peening process applied to the tension side of all leaves significantly reduces spring stress, potentially doubling the life of the spring. With a configuration of 4 + 3 leaves and a spring rate of 216/616 pounds per inch, this single leaf spring is suitable for various recreational and commercial applications, ensuring improved ride, handling, and load carrying capabilities.
