The handles are superb Excellent item easy to install fits perfectly five stars
The grab handles I purchased arrived on time and in perfect condition. Installation instructions were easy to understand and the product is sturdy and well made. I couldn’t be happier with the whole experience. Thank you.
Items came as described. Easy to install. Not used to them yet and continue to pull myself up in van with the steering wheel. Hopefully will start using them soon.
Two short people get a grip
With a Sprinter based motorhome, it was a challenge to get into and out of the cab, even after we added steps. There isn’t a really good place to grab to pull yourself in, but after adding the Door Grab Handles, which were really easy to do- watch the video on You Tube- It has gotten a whole lot easier. They should have been standard equipment.
5 stars with caveats.
Overall the handles are really nice. My only complaint/concern stems from the installation. I was shorted one nutsert and have not yet received the fourth to finish the installation. This is not to big an issue as I purchased these for the passenger side handle. A bigger problem is the fact the drill bit provided is larger than the nutsert. This means that, unlike the installation video shows, the nutsert is loose in the drilled hole. This would make the crimping of the nutsert extremely difficult. Fortunately I do own the proper installation tool for nutserts so this was not a big issue for me. I strongly recommend not trying to install these without the correct tool. Trying to get these properly crimped without it is extremely difficult. i would also liked to have seen small screws with caps (like the main mounts) instead of the somewhat afterthought feel of the pop rivets. This would have maintained the OEM type quality and feel of the product. I highly recommend these handles as once installed they are clean and functional. Other than the aforementioned pop rivets they appear very much as a factory installed option. Very nice. Note that these handles attach to the door, NOT the van body. None of the pictures on the website show the handle with the door open. The description states the handles attach to "the door frame" which usually refers to the frame the door fits into, not the door itself. As it is possible to swing the door with the handle I must be careful if parked close to anything the door may swing into when using the handle. Also it is important passengers know the handle swings with the door. Not a complaint just information. Just to reiterate, I strongly suggest lining up a proper rivnut/nutsert installation tool to do an easy proper install.
Quality is good, but trouble with installation and result
The quality of the grab handles is very good. The color is a close match to the interior of the Sprinter (2016 passenger). When installed, the grab handles appear to be sturdy, although I haven't yet used them more than a few times. The fit of the handles is good, and the instructions are also good, although I downloaded the instructions to get a better grayscale of the pictures. - I appreciate that there is a tool to install the rivnuts. However, the 9 mm drill that comes with the set created a hole that was slightly larger than needed so that the rivnut would not catch when tightened. So I purchased a rivnut tool, which made the installation easy. - The location of the handles is such that they do not have a good "direction of pull" (a rock climbing phrase), to help entry . But there really isn't a better location available. - Overall I am satisfied with the grab handles, but would not do this again due to the cost of the handles plus the rivnut tool. In other words, it was not cost-effective.
